about us

Job Assist is an all-volunteer organization based in the Kemp Mill neighborhood of Silver Spring, Maryland.  We were established in 2003 to help our neighbors with their job search.  That remains our primary focus.

Using this site

We have worked with hundreds of people, including people of all ages–from teenagers to senior citizens.  They are seeking jobs because they just graduated, just moved to the area, or seek to change employers or even careers.
We may be able to help you with networking, LinkedIn, resumes, and interviewing.  We are not in a position to look for suitable jobs for you or to promote you to employers.
The material is organized into the five major blocks shown below, plus a block that includes a list of all of the material on this site, with the most recent additions shown first.  In addition, there is a search function in the upper right-hand corner of the home page.

Links to multi-topic job-search webinars, articles on the mindsets that can contribute to a successful job search, and articles on selected career coaches.

Articles on the role of LinkedIn and other social media, plus articles and tools to help you improve your LinkedIn profile.

Articles and tools to help you create better resumes and cover letters.

Articles to help you understand when your interview really starts and ends, guidance on video interviews, and more.
